Our experts

RGC Consulting provides valuation, insurance restoration costing, and consulting across a wide range of sectors. We have completed hundreds of assignments, from houses, small commercial and condominium buildings, farms, restaurants, and conventional stores, to heritage and church properties, specialized machinery, and food-processing equipment.

Ricky G. Cormier

Founder and Managing Director, Building Cost Consultant

Ricky G. Cormier is a bilingual Building Cost Consultant, Quantity Surveyor, and Expert Witness. He is a P.Tech. in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Building Science, and he leads RGC’s consulting team in Atlantic Canada.

Fluent in English and French, Ricky has provided building consulting for new construction and restoration across Canada. His experience covers municipal, industrial, institutional, commercial, retail, historical, residential, condominium, long-term care, heritage, entertainment, and recreation facilities. He specializes in building-damage evaluation, repair-cost analysis, insurance restoration, catastrophe (CAT) response, and project management.

Before incorporating R.G.C. Consulting, Ricky spent more than 25 years in construction and estimating, holding roles in construction and professional-service firms. He advised on quantity surveying, general construction estimating, project management, building restoration, water-damage investigations, and building-envelope failures. Complex property-loss files have included fire, water, wind, flooding, wildfire, snow loading, and building-envelope failures.

He has been recognized by the Court as an Expert Building Cost Consultant and has given independent expert testimony on construction costs, damage assessments, repair methodologies, and property-loss valuation. Quantifiable career experience includes property-loss estimates exceeding $25 million in aggregate, review of more than 1,000 residential and commercial claims, and catastrophe responses across five provinces—including Hurricane Fiona, the 2023 Halifax flooding and Hammonds Plains wildfire, the 2024 Montreal flooding, and the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfire.

Representative career files include the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, the Suncor Voyageur Village Complex in Fort McMurray, the Dalhousie Tupper flood restoration, and estimating and project-management work for high-volume residential and commercial builders across Canada.
